Kutmaster gsa pocket knife5/26/2023 Their inclusion in survival kits would be the most practical way that most of these knives were probably issued, and survival kits with similar items, if not identical, may well have been used by other agencies (USFS is the first to come to mind), especially in the '50s, when it was still expected somewhat that the government should supply personnel with the equipment needed to perform their duties. It would seem logical that with their generic marking and the fact that they chose common, useful patterns of knives that could be produced by just about any domestic cutlery company at the time, that they may have been made available to other federal agencies, perhaps in an attempt to standardize and simplify procurement of like items across the board. I guess my point in my earlier post was that while I don't doubt that some, if not most, knives in this manner were issued to the military, I'm not convinced that they were exclusive to the military.
